Friend Change Tracker Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 24, 2026

Friend Change Tracker is a Chrome extension that compares snapshots of the Facebook friends list for the signed-in user. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Meta or Facebook.

Information the extension handles

With your consent, the extension retrieves the names, profile URLs, and profile identifiers returned in your Facebook friends list. It also records scan times and whether Facebook explicitly marks a returned profile as restricted or deactivated. A profile missing from a later snapshot is recorded as no longer appearing in the list; this does not establish why it disappeared.

How the information is used

The extension uses this information only to compare friend-list snapshots and show the results and toolbar alert to you. It accesses Facebook using your existing signed-in browser session. The extension does not read or store the values of your session cookies or password.

Storage and sharing

Friend names, profile links, identifiers, and scan history are stored in Chrome's local extension storage on your device. The extension does not send this information to the extension publisher, an analytics service, or another third-party server. Facebook receives the requests made to its own service as part of retrieving your list.

Retention and deletion

Stored snapshots remain in the browser until you choose Clear local history, choose Withdraw consent and clear data, or remove the extension. Withdrawing consent also stops future automatic scans.

Permissions

  • Facebook host access: retrieves your friends list from Facebook.
  • Storage: saves snapshots and your consent choice locally.
  • Alarms: runs the requested periodic scan while Chrome is open.
  • Declarative Net Request: adjusts request headers for Facebook's internal friends-list requests.

Changes and contact

This policy will be updated if the extension's data practices change. For questions, use the support contact published on the Chrome Web Store listing.
